Technical-Grade Ethanol Label Update

In response to the increasing demand for hand sanitizers in Canada during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Health Canada has implemented an interim expedited licensing approach to help businesses obtain the required authorizations to produce and distribute hand sanitizer.

Technical-grade ethanol has the following enhanced safety warnings that must be followed.

• Adults Only
• Do not use on broken or damaged skin
• Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Do not inhale

Labels must also contain the following information:

• A statement for consumers: “Report any incident to Canada.ca/drug-device-reporting”.
• A ‘Questions?’ section that indicates: “Call 1-866-234-2345 to report any adverse reaction”.

NOTE: Prior to the decision on technical-grade ethanol by Health Canada made on April 27, 2020 any Triton Hand Sanitizer purchased will not have the technical-grade labels and warnings as indicated. Please exercise caution.
